Underpainting is part of Chapter Two of Non Finito, made alongside Underdrawing. The title nods to traditional painting preparatory stages, the imperceptible layers that hold everything together. Underpainting treats code as a textural tool, forming a portrait that is deliberately kept in an incomplete state, through smears, strokes, and digital artifacts. Viewers can move through layers, animate outputs, reroll versions, and keep the work alive. From non finito to infinito.
